About FAITH

A family church since 1962.

Our church started in a living room with a handful of people. 60-plus years later, we're still building healthy families — multi-generational, all ages, and still convinced we're better together.

Our story

From a living room to a family of thousands.

Our story began in March of 1961, with a small gathering in the home of Terry and Virginia Hart. God was at work, and our first Sunday services were held on Easter Sunday, April 23, 1961, at Point Pleasant Elementary School. With the assistance of the North American Missions Board (NAMB), the current grounds were purchased in February 1962. At that time the church building consisted of a little house and a chicken coop.

Since then our FAITH family has grown and grown. In the middle of it all, we have never lost our focus on children and the rotating "next generation." In 1981, we opened the doors to our Child Development Center (CDC), which has become one of the most sought-after preschools in Anne Arundel County.

Then in the spring of 1999, we broke ground on our Family Life Center. The gym within that addition let us expand our CDC and launch our Upward Sports ministry — first-class, detailed, organized opportunities for families to be loved by Jesus.

In 2023, we began a brand-new chapter with a giant leap of faith forward: we expanded our educational program to include a new elementary school — FAITH Academy. In the summer of 2026, we cut the ribbon and dedicated a brand new stand-alone building for the school.

Over the last 30 years, we have also been planting churches in Tamil Nadu, India. God has allowed that effort to grow into more than 107 churches, two mission centers, and a child sponsorship program — with more than 7,000 people now worshiping across those locations. They are just as much our family as the people we share seats with on Sunday in Glen Burnie.

Throughout the decades, our focus on families has given us a tremendous church family of our own. We are a beautiful multi-generational church worshiping in different heart-languages, trudging through different stages of life, but finding strength in all of it together through our focus on Jesus.

We are for building healthy families.
What we believe

A summary — and where to read more.

FAITH is a church that prioritizes Christ alone. We have no governing ties to any denomination but we partner with efforts from many. As a statement of faith, here are eight core beliefs we hold, in our own words. As a fuller, formal version of what we teach, we hold to the Baptist Faith and Message 2000.

  1. We believe the Holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testament are the inerrant, inspired, and infallible Word of God. God's Word is the final authority for faith and life.
  2. We believe there is only one God, and He has chosen to reveal Himself as God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.
  3. We believe man was created in the image of God, and the sin of Adam marred that image, creating an eternal divide between God and man. Every person is born in sin.
  4. We believe the only way a person can have a true, forgiven relationship with God is through Jesus Christ's sacrifice on the cross. Jesus was born of the Virgin Mary and conceived by the Holy Spirit. Jesus became man without ceasing to be God. Our right standing with God is made sure because of His literal, physical resurrection.
  5. We believe in the literal, physical return of Jesus to judge the living and the dead.
  6. We believe God offers eternal life as a free gift and that it must be received by faith alone through God's grace alone. The life that comes from this gift is a permanent possession of the one receiving it.
  7. We believe the church of the Lord Jesus Christ is a local body of believers on mission to enlarge God's kingdom. The local church is autonomous, free of any external authority of control.
  8. We believe that Believer's Baptism and the Lord's Supper are the two ordinances of the church.
A note from Pastor Tim

A new church can feel intimidating. You wonder if you'll fit in, what to wear, where to sit. There is a place for you here. Come the way you'd come to Thanksgiving at a house where you're really wanted. Pull up a chair. We've been hoping you'd come.
